Goodbye... Nemo, Hector, and Gavin!!

So, as you all may know, Gavin wanted Santa to bring him a fish. Well santa brought Gavin a fish, and he named him Nemo!! One week later Nemo died!! I knew goldfish don't live very long but a WEEK!! I thought Gavin would be sad, but he wasn't. We told him that we can go get another one!! He was excited and asked everyday if we can go get a fish!! A week after that Joe and I took him to Petsmart and let him pick out his own fish. He picked two, because they needed to have a friend. We asked him in the car on the way home what he wanted to name them and he said, Hector and Gavin. I aked him "You want to name your fish Gavin?" He said "Yep, Gavin like me".
This time I cleaned everything really good sterilized everything. Joe even felt the water for 15 minutes so the temperature was just right. Then we sat the fish in the bag into the bowl so they could adapt to the new water. These fish looked healthier, so we thought they would last longer. Well, five days later Hector died!! Joe took Hector and flushed him down the toilet. Then the next day, I kept watching the other fish (Gavin) and he looked good, he was swimming everywhere and eating!! While I was fixing dinner that night, I kept watching Gavin (the fish) swimming, as I turned to go sit at the table, Joe walked over to get something in the kitchen. And joe says, "Jill D-E-A-D"! I run over there, and there he was laying down on his side in the rocks!! Apparently we can't keep these dang fish alive. I am done buying fish for awhile. It is a good thing they were only 12 cents!!! Any advise on how to keep Goldfish alive?

How often are you feeding them? Not everyday I hope...Only once every week or so.

Maybe try a different kind of fish! Goldfish are terrible! Glad to finally see a new post! Is Gavin sad?

Try not changing their water - ever, over feeding them, or totally forgetting about them. That should do the trick. Works for us!! (Esmerelda is still going strong).

I agree!! Beta fish are great!! but only one in one tank at a time, the kill each other if there is no seperation. they are great and are so cool lookin!! I think Gavin will love one!! That's too funny though!! Good luck

Well don't ask us! We killed 10 fish all in one sweep! Honestly fish seem like they would be easy, but I've come to find out that they really are not!!

Hey sorry I just realized that you had made a comment on my blog. Gavin is so cute. I would try a beta however. They cost a little bit more ($3) but they are more forgiving than gold fish. I had one for 5 years in college. Good to hear from you.

Poor Gavin. Is he is doing ok after the last two died?

I saw you went to GTU, I saw the blonde girl at lunch the other day. I couldn't believe how tall she is. What's her name?
